Book to Read: Clive Barker's "The Thief of Always"

This was Clive Barker's first children's story, although it is interesting enough for adult readers to zip through.  I was able to read the book in a matter of hours...although part of that may be the fact that I absolutely love Clive Barker's style.

The story centers around a young boy named Harvey that wishes he was anywhere but stuck in his boring house watching the boring rain fall from his boring window.  He gets his wish, and a whole lot more than he bargained for.  Now might be a good time to read the book, as it has been anounced that a movie version will be released sometime in 2007 (let's hope they don't screw it up).

Movie To Rent: The Princess and the Warrior
Starring Franka Potente and Benno Furmann, Directed by Tom Twyker
An excellent film from the Director and Star of Run Lola Run.

I won't bore you with the plot, except to say that the movie is told in almost a laid back style, not rushing to tell the story. I found it a very different movie than the one that it's most often compared with (the aforementioned Run Lola Run)...after all, who wants the same movie done over and over again?

My glamazon friend Eve says "(The Princess and the Warrior) made an emergency tracheotomy sexy"...and I agree.

This German made film is only available in a subtitled version, but don't let that scare you. It is a wonderful film.

CD to take a listen to: Rockin' The Suburbs, by Ben Folds:
Even though this release is a few years old now, I just recently purchased it (my first Ben Folds purchase) and it has gone into super-heavy-extreme rotation on my cd player.

If you enjoy heavy piano alterna-rock, with a bit of wit thrown in to the mix, Ben Folds is the artist for you.
