What I do for a living...How I make the big bucks (LOL)...
My official title when I worked for a Clear Channel owned company was "Traffic Training and Conversion Specialist". I traveled to different radio stations across the country and trained the personnel on how to use our Traffic and Billing software (it was almost as exciting as it sounds). After four years of working for that company, the contract ended, I got a very nice severence package, and had a month off before starting my latest job, pretty much doing what I did before only with TV stations. My new title is "Implementation Specialist". I've been with my current company since November 1, 2004. I get to travel...A LOT. I've traveled to many interesting and some not so interesting cities in many states throughout the US. I've been told that travel to Canada and Europe may be coming soon (now I need to get a passport).
Places work has taken me
While working for Paine Webber, training Stock Brokers:
- Santa Barbara, CA (beautiful)
- New Jersey (somewhere near Hoboken. Had a lot of fun there)
- Jackson, Mississippi...In August! (nothing to do, but the people were sooooo friendly)

While working for the latest company (in the Television/Radio industry):
- San Francisco, California (11-01-04 thru 11-19-04 and 11-28-04 thru 12-03-04) for training at the new job...got to explore the city during the evenings and weekends, and my friend Greg drove up from L.A. and spent the weekend with me. Awesome, amazing city! Definitely a city I could live in
- Cleveland, Ohio (12-05-04 thru 12-10-04, 01-16-05 thru 1-28-05 and 02-06-05 thru 02-11-05) My first actual site with the new company, and overall a stressful experience, during which time I realized how poorly I was trained in the use of the software I was supposed to be installing / training new users on
- Sacramento, California (02-01-05 thru 02-04-05, 03-13-05 thru 03-25-04 and 04-03-05 thru 04-08-05) so far my favorite TV Station conversion...nice people, and everyone at the station had a good attitude about the conversion
- Atlanta, Georgia (02-13-05 thru 03-04-05) A nice enough city, and I worked with a coworker from my Evil Empire Days, Terry. We also met up with our friend and former coworker Tracy for dinner at a tasty Brazilian Barbecue place
- Milwaukee, Wisconsin (04-17-05 thru 04-29-05) I was surprised by this city...I'm not sure why, but I was expecting it to be more of a factory town...I was wrong. Beautiful architecture, nice restaurants, and the station conversion to new software was probably the most stress-free conversion I have been involved in
- Columbia, South Carolina (06-19-05 thru 06-24-05, 07-17-05 thru 07-30-05 and 08-07-05 thru 08-12-05) Nice little town, not much to do, but my friend Sara was with me for part of the trip, so at least I wasn't bored
- Corpus Christi, Texas (08-14-05 thru 08-20-05, 09-11-05 thru 09-22-05, and 10-16-05 thru 10-20-05) Nice people on site, good food, and a few sidetrips to spend some time with my friends Jesse and Trevor and Mikey in Houston (although I only saw Mikey a little bit)...not to mention the fact that I had to leave the site a few days early due to a hurricane threat...fun!
- Lewiston, Idaho (11-27-05 thru 12-02-05 and 12-18-05 thru 01-06-06); Nice little town, not much to do though...the people at the station were very nice, and even supplied me with a huge amount of Deer jerky. Yes, Deer jerky.
- Watertown, New York (02-12-06 thru 02-24-06, 03-05-06 thru 03-10-06, and 04-02-06 thru 04-07-06); Extremely nice ladies in the Traffic Dept.
- Duluth, Minnesota (coming 04-16-06 thru 04-21-06, 05-14-06 thru 05-26-06); Fantastic conversion! The employees on site really knew their stuff, and were more than prepared for the conversion process. Also, a nice town with some beautiful scenery - I took lots and lots of photos.
- Albany, NY (06-11-06 thru 06-16-06, 6-18-06 thru 06-23-06, 06-25-06 thru 06-27-06, and 07-04-06 thru 07-07-06); The nice thing about Albany is that it is only a 3 Hour drive from my house, so I was able to go home for the weekends - and I was able to spend 4th of July (most of it anyway) at home in Salem, MA.
- Boston/Brighton, MA (07-17-06 thru 08-11-06 and 9-11-06 thru 9-15-06); OK, this really shouldn't be considered "travel", since I live in Salem, which is only about 24 miles away...but still.
- Colorado Springs, CO (11-27-06 thru 12-1-06 and {upcoming} 12-17-06 thru 1-5-07)
- Upcoming: Spokane, WA (1-14-07 thru 1-19-07 and 2-11-07 thru 3-2-07)
- Upcoming: Buffalo, NY (1-28-07 thru 2-9-07 and 3-11-07 thru 3-30-07)
Places I've gone for fun in no particular order...
- Provincetown, Massachusetts (two weeks, sooo much fun)
- Santa Barbara, California (hands down, the best place for a romantic getaway)
- Las Vegas, Nevada (as often as possible, of course)
- Lauglin, Nevada (won a shitload of cash there...royal flush on a video poker machine)
- Manhattan, New York (so many people, so much fun)
- San Francisco, California (lots of fun every time I go there)
- New Orleans, Louisiana (had the best meal of my life there...so far)
- Shreveport, Louisiana (doubled my money at the craps tables!)
- Key West, Florida (I was there for only one day...and I wish I had stayed longer...I'll just have to go back)
- Salem, Massachusetts, several times... (on my first trip, I met up with LJ friends Rob, Phil, Duncan, and Duncan's non LJ using significant other, Peter...since then, Peter has started his own LiveJournal, and I have fallen in love with the city of Salem...so much so that I moved there from Mission Viejo (the OC), California on June 12, 2005)
- Chicago, Illinois (a daytrip, driving from Milwaukee on Saturday, 04-23-05, to meet up with long time LiveJournal friend Christian, also known as LJ user "new_improved"...got drunk on too strong margaritas, saw the movie Kung Fu Hustle, had a great time!)
- Maine...not sure which city, but it was a day trip with friends Duncan and Peter to the L.L. Bean outlet up there. I spent a lot of money that day on cold weather clothing...a lot of money.
- Many more, I just can't remember them all right now...
Below is a map with states I've visited in RED (fascinating!)
So that's 35 states, or 68% of the country...so far. In addition to that, I've been to Canada (whatever city is right above Detroit, Michigan) and Tijuana, Mexico.
